52 style Taichi Fan Dance video

I always wanted to learn how to do Taiji Fan dance.  However, without the basic form and steps, it's really difficult to follow the video and music.  The following videos are ones I found on youtube.  they seem to have better instruction and are able demonstrate step by step for practice.  Hope you guys will enjoy them and learn how to do Taiji Fan.  Let's hope you will be able to perform such event in the near future.

1. This is the standard Tai Chi Fan Dance teaching video by Master Li De Yin 李德印师父

2. This is the teaching video for the 52 style Tai Chi Fan dance back view.  It will be a good exercises for students to practice ,meditate and prepare for performance.  Let's practice it, if possible.
3. The last video is a performance video from Mississauga Carassauga 28th Multicultural Festival in Ontario, Canada.
This Taichi steps are easier, have less upper body movements, and lesser lower body movement too. This is the routine I think younger students will be able to learn how to follow the steps and practice for a performance during holiday celebrations.

Have Fun practice! 加油!

Here's the story posted originally written by Joanne Hsu from Better Chinese website dated Feb. 13, 2014
Since 2014 is the Year of the horse, we wanted to introduce some Chinese idioms that involve horses. One famous idiom, 走马观花 (zǒu mǎ guān huā) literally means to gaze at flowers while on horseback. It is used to describe a fleeting glance or cursory observation in passing. This idiom is actually based on a cute story that I want to share with you today.
Once upon a time, there was a lame man named 贵良 (Guì-liáng) who was looking for a wife. He asked his friend, 华翰 (Huá-hàn) to be a matchmaker (媒人,meírén) and introduce (介绍,jièshào) him to a woman of grace and beauty. 华翰 (Huá-hàn) happened to know a beautiful girl named 叶青 (Yè-qīng), who was also looking for her Mr. Right. The only problem was that she had a crooked nose. “They would be a match made in heaven,”(tiān zào dì shè,天造地设华翰 (Huá-hàn) thought.
“I found the perfect girl for you!” 华翰 (Huá-hàn) excitedly told 贵良 (Guì-liáng). ”Remember to put on your best suit and wait patiently on horseback by the river tomorrow.” Then 华翰 (Huá-hàn) ran and asked 叶青 (Yè-qīng) to hold a flower in her hand and pretend to smell at it by the river tomorrow.
The next day, 贵良 (Guì-liáng) rode his horse by the river and saw the most beautiful girl he had ever seen standing by the riverside enjoying the aroma of the flower in the hand. At the same time, 叶青 (Yè-qīng) raised her head slightly and saw this handsome man on his horse – her prince charming. The two fell in love immediately and decided to get marry.
On their wedding night, 贵良 (Guì-liáng) slowly lifted the bridal veil with excitement and fell to see the ugly nose of his bride. 叶青 (Yè-qīng) retorted, “You’re a cripple!”
The two remembered the scene of their first encounter where they 走马观花 and laughed, “We are so made for each other!”
Although, there is a happy ending for the story, remember to not 走马观花 when you learn Chinese!

Mom, let’s buy some mung beans! (妈妈,买绿豆!)

I love reading stories, and I thought this story goes very well with Chinese 1.  The story is really easy,  short, and there's not a lot of vocabulary.   So, let's click the link above to go to the publisher's website for the story.  There's a video to follow while you listen and read along with the PDF document.  If you wish to listen to the story all the time, you can download the mp3 audio from the Better Chinese website, and listen to it all you want.

Here are the questions related to this story.  Please answer them in Chinese if possible:
1. What's the name of the main character? What does he want his mother to buy?2  When are the mung beans ready to be cooked? What do you have to do first?
3. What do you need to put in the mung bean soup before eating?
4. What did the boy do with one uncooked mung bean?  What happened to it?
5. Please read along with the video until you are able to record it on your own.
6. Can you write a short story of your own in Chinese?  (Your story should be less than 150 words total!) - this portion of the assignment can be completed with an assigned partner.

The final product needs to be handwritten with a title page, including the author & illustrator's name, and the year of publication. Your story book production should be at least 5 pages, with five different pictures for illustrations.  Grading Rubric will be provided in class.

Thank you. 谢谢! Xièxie!
